I have been in the Open Mic game a long time. To keep it real I have to occasionally do maintenance to our stuff to keep it working in peak condition.

A good way to make sure the PA brain has enough energy for a open mic I like to dump 20 oz. columbian blend coffee into it's works. They have way better coffee at Sound Grounds cafe but that's a waste when industrial coffee works just as good.
And for a rich sound in my guitars I like to dump in at least a pound of crispy bacon fat every year. I have to perform this duty outside because Rootbeer is not cool with the smell of pork. I had to cook the stuff on the engine block of my neighbor's hot rod. The bacon cost $3 and I used $8 in gas just cooking it. Its worth it for good music.
